FAREWELL TO PRESIDENT REAGAN

Of all of the tributes given to former President Ronald Reagan one of his greatest victories was left out. We have all heard time and time again about President Reagan's contribution to end the cold war. However, whenever reference is made to his ending of the cold war, it always is directed at his efforts in Europe. His famous speech demanding that Gorbachev "tear down this wall" is the single most significant act in stopping the cold war between the United States and the old Soviet Union. Being realistic, his speech and the events in Europe were meritorious but it was his actions in another part of the world that was equally significant in stopping the spread of communism.

The forgotten story took place in a little country known as Nicaragua . Back in those days communism was spreading throughout Central America . To those that were involved in that situation it was often referred to as the domino theory. That name was given, because it was felt by many that if communism spreading throughout Central America were left unchecked, every country from Nicaragua all the way to Mexico would eventually fall into the hands of communist regimes.

It was President Ronald Reagan who was able to see the future for Central America and even our Nation if it was not stopped. Reagan knew that the time was right and the place was Nicaragua, to end once and for all, this terrible threat to our homeland.

President Reagan used a small band of soldiers that he lovingly called the Contras or in his words, "The Freedom Fighters" to wage war against the mighty army of the Sandinista government in Nicaragua. I could go on for hours with story after story of President Reagan's courageous actions and examples of his steadfast commitment to the cause of stopping communism in Central America, but I will not at this time.

For this tribute I want to simply say that everything he did in that effort was just. Every action taken was right and every goal was met. Folks, because of President Reagan's foresight, his courage and the courage of the small band of "Freedom Fighters," we are safe today from having communism only yards away from our southern border.

It was truly a private struggle by one man in a small group that completed the true end to the cold war around the world. You may ask yourself, how come you never heard about that war or that effort to end the cold war?

Well, the answer to that is, most people didn't see what happened and didn't know what was going on just to the south of our Nation. Back then just as today, the media that was totally against the President or any member of government daring to claim the title of conservative, and would not tell the story as it really was.

If you are asking, how I know and why I pay homage to his effort, it is because I was there.

I never met President Reagan. I never had the honor of working side by side with him, but I did have the honor of working for him and seeing the product of his commitment.

There will be debate for many years about whether or not President Ronald Reagan was truly a great President and as time passes the debate will drift further and further away from reality. If I could add one thing to the debate it would be that I don't know if Ronald Reagan was a great President but I do know beyond any shadow of any doubt that he was a great man and we will miss him.

THE INTERNET TV NETWORK IS GETTING CLOSER EVERYDAY

I have been taught all of my life that anything worth having is worth waiting for.

Well, folks I have had the privilege of seeing a sample of the technology and the picture quality that is coming soon to your computer, compliments of The Internet TV Network and, boy, has it been worth the wait!

The other day Bill Boshears put up a test for a small number of people to see exactly what the picture quality and the end product will look like. While I did not see the test, I have seen it before. What was of special interest to me was my opportunity to speak with many of the people who actually saw this last test. Their reactions were even greater than I could have ever imagined! They expressed amazement, almost disbelief over what they had just seen on their computer. Their excitement was genuine.

Now a small group of people has had a glimpse of the future. I know time has worn down some of the initial enthusiasm we once shared, but the test last week proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that the technology exists and that all involved with The Internet TV Network have a part in it. Ask around and find somebody that was able to see the test and you will discover what I know. The Internet TV Network truly is the future for the Internet as well as the future for news and entertainment.

We hope that all of you who choose to experience an exciting future with The Internet TV Network will join us with renewed spirit and energy, for together we will make The Network a great success. Soon you will have a chance to do your part! So, stay tuned. We will be sending more information by email and posting it to www.larrynichols.com where more of you can view the next series of tests.

Hold on folks, we are coming!

See you next week and may God bless,

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
