THE IRAQ BATTLE PLAN - PROBLEMS AND POSSIBILITIES
Make no mistake about it the war in Iraq. It's at a "make or break" point for President George Bush. Saddam Hussein is not the only person with a vested interest in trying to make our effort in Iraq fail, Hillary and just about every other Democrat wanting power wants this war to blow up in Bush' face as well.
You may be saying that no American could possibly want our nation to fail in Iraq just because of politics, well, you would be wrong. You need to learn more about American history and modern politics because that's exactly what is going on right now. The Democrats want it to fail and Republican are hoping Bush and his administration really know what they are doing and will be able to make it a success.
By the way, just a little tip that will help you understand that President Bush understands the real world, was his move this week re-calling Paul Brimmer back to the White House to make sure he knows how important it is that the council of Iraqi leaders we assembled, create a new constitution by the United Nations deadline of December l5th. Of course, that's the problem.
Everyone knows that if we turn any portion of control over to the Iraqi's that the fundamentalists Sheits will take control. When that happens the Ayatollah of Iraq will take charge and we will have created another Iran instead of the kind of Iraq we all expected to get. Big problem, and bad news for Bush. I don't really know how he's going to get out of that box. Remember, the more he pushes to force the outcome we want the more resentment will build against us by the people in Iraq and others around the world. Keep watching this problem because it is going to be very important in 2004.
As for the on going war in Iraq I wish I could get Bush to try a new approach. With the new outbursts of hostilities in that country our military has adopted a policy of getting more aggressive and using more power against the enemy. The problem here is that it will not work.
The environment we find ourselves in, in Iraq is one that does not allow the advantage to the larger force. A force twice our size cannot stop one man or small group of men from blowing up a soft target somewhere in Iraq and especially when these people are willing to blow themselves up in the process.
There actually is a plan that could be used that would relieve some of the pressure on our troops and the President at the same time.
Now, I know most of you are going to think I am nuts, but you had better pay close attention because this is a subject I do have some experience in. Also, I might remind you of an earlier article I wrote that explained that we should use Iraqi soldiers to augment our force and that we should not try and train them like our soldiers. Remember? Well, I am proud to say that we are now doing just that. Maybe somebody actually does pay attention to what we talk about in Nichols' Notes.
We should now bring in mercenaries to lead small groups of Iraqi's in an "Enemy of the People of Iraq Eradication Project". Mercenaries would play by rules closer to those of our enemies in that region and could gain control of small areas of the cities and countryside in a very effectual manner and hold those areas from enemy impregnation, with virtual ease. Why could mercenaries do it and our soldiers cannot? Mercenaries play by the rules of the street, not by the rules of our politicians or the U.N., and there's a big difference. Plus, mercenaries get paid well to take chances and risk their lives and the public will be less inclined to feel the loss when one is killed, unlike the loss of one of our soldiers.
I can't, well, I could but I won't, explain how mercenaries would wage war on the enemies of peace in Iraq, just know that there are people that can explain it to this administration if they would simply ask.
If I seem cold hearted and cruel well then, I guess you finally have me figured out. But at least I know you can't wage a measured war. Now on the moon, nor in Vietnam and certainly not in Iraq, war is always "total war". You do not fight to moderate, you fight to win and anything less always has and always will mean "total disaster".
We must win the war for peace in Iraq and to do that we must do whatever it takes to defeat and eliminate the enemies of peace. Oh, if you don't know what that means. It means find the enemy, before he attacks us and kill the enemy before he kills us. at all costs.
See, it's simple to someone like me, I just hope the right people figure it out as well, before it's too late.
TO ALL VETS. THANK-YOU!
See You Next Week and May God Bless,

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
In war you're either the Shark or the bait.
